Export and share a plan
Export a plan as a PDF or an image with its legend and title, at the plan's own shape or on A4 or US Letter, send it on, and invite teammates to edit the plan with you.
The client gets a PDF or a picture of the plan; your crew gets the plan itself, to edit. Both start from the editor.
Export a PDF or an image
- In the editor, tap Export, the share button in the top bar. With a phone on its side it is in the left-hand rail.
- The Export sheet shows the page as it will go out. Set the switches and menus below; the preview redraws as you change them.
- Tap Share, at the top right, to send the PDF by mail or message, save it to Files or print it.
- Or tap Save Image to Photos for the same page as a picture, at the Image quality you choose. The first time, allow ePlan to add photos.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Legend | Lists each kind of symbol on the plan with its count, and each circuit with its symbols and wires |
| Title and date | A band across the top with the project's name, the plan's name and the date |
| Page size: Fit to plan | The page takes the plan's own shape and grows to hold the title and the legend |
| Page size: A4 or US Letter | A sheet turned the way the plan is, with margins for printing |
| Image quality | Standard, about 18 megapixels, or High, about 45 |
ePlan remembers these choices on the device. The legend and the symbol names follow the device's symbol setting, IEC or US. Unless you or the project's owner has Premium, the page carries a small Made with ePlan line; with Premium it carries no ePlan branding at all.
On Android, the image goes to Pictures. In the browser, Download PDF and Download image save the two files.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, the symbols, wires, drawn walls and an imported PDF stay sharp in the PDF at any zoom. A photo or a scan stays as sharp as it was taken.
Invite your team
Inviting teammates is part of Premium, and only the project's owner can invite.
- Open the project and find Sharing.
- Tap Generate Invite Code. Tap Copy for the eight-character code, or Share to send it with instructions.
- Your teammate opens ePlan, taps Join Project on Projects and enters the code.
- They join as an editor and can work on every plan in the project.
A code works for seven days; Generate New Code makes another. Edits sync to everyone in the project, and a teammate can edit a Premium owner's project without Premium of their own.
Before you send it
- Run the tests first, so the client never sees a switch wired to nothing.
- Keep the editable plan. When the client changes their mind, change the plan and export it again rather than drawing a new one.
- A printer or a PDF viewer scales a Fit to plan page to the paper, so one PDF prints on A4, Letter or a larger sheet.
Back to the start: Start a plan.
